(SOLD) Fender Japan Boxer Series Jazz Bass Special Black 1989
Fender Jazz Bass Special, black, made in Japan 1988. The 'Boxer Series' was Fender's Japanese made 'modern' instruments of the mid-eighties: Strats and Teles with Flyod Rose bridges, pointy shaped things, short scale Strats and... some really cool basses. The 'Jazz Bass Special' has a lightweight P-style body, paired with a slim J-style neck. It's blessed with a P/J style pickup setup, so you can dial a fair bit of tonal variation just by playing with the two volume controls. This one has been converted to passive circuitry by our tech, as the active wiring was playing up... it's nice and simple and sounds great now, easy peasy. At 3.3kg this is super light, but still nicely balanced somehow... it's so easy to play it's silly. This is a really fun little bass, it will surely put a smile on your dial.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has scuffs on the end and edges, a dent near the G post on the front and on the top edge and some scuffs around the other tuner posts. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples and play wear on the back only. The back has a decent scratch near the neck plate, scuffs on both horns, the middle and edges, as well as some dimples along the belly carve and back edge. The sides have some dimples on both horns, dimples and a couple of chips in the elbow area, a decent chip and some scuffs near the jack and some scuffs on the bottom horn. The front has dimples in the elbow area, around the bridge and the knobs and some play wear on the horns. Overall: Good Condition (7/10)
Playing Condition Notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 45/105 Moonshiners strings.
Fret Life: 7/10, minor wear but in good shape
