K.Seven YW300, made in Japan circa 1982, natural gloss. K.Seven was a short-lived sub-brand of Topshelf favourites K.Yairi, made in the early 80s in the Yairi workshop in western Japan. They were a little cheaper than the K.Yairi branded instruments, but still made with a lot of care and excellent materials. This one has a beautiful solid spruce top and laminate rosewood back and sides, both showing off some very tight and tidy grain patterns. The neck is fairly slim and carved to a gentle V shape, which is comfy for big chords and makes for easy movement. The sound on offer is detailed and strong, with a resounding low end and a brimming midrange. Yairi stuff is always great, and this is also great.
