Kawai MF300, made in Japan around 1970, gloss natural. This is a lovely little acoustic, it's very charming. First up, it has some quirky aesthetic touches: bowling ball style binding, funky robot-thumbnail inlays, bound fretboard, a shiny metal boob on the headstock... it's cool. The back of the body has some beautiful grain on show too. It's tricky to know what species of timber was used, but the big swirly book-matched grain looks gorgeous. The shape is based loosely on a Martin 000, so it's slim and easy to get your hands around. The soft-V shape neck is a little chunky, but it's pretty friendly and you get used to it soon enough. The tone packs plenty of definition and midrange honk, lending itself nicely to blues and country fingerstyle playing. This is a handy little couch strummer with plenty of character.
