(SOLD) Psychederhythm Psychomaster GC Antigua 2019
Psychederhythm Psychomaster German Carve, antigua finish, made in Japan 2019. I'm a huge sucker for a German carve, so when I saw this one come up for sale I had to grab it for the shop. Psychederhythm are a small operation, pairing a cute Tokyo vintage guitar store with a workshop that produces high end menu/custom guitars in runs of two to four, mostly in the Tele and JM genres. This one is a JM, but with that awesome carved body, and hot rodded with some juicy electronics and quality Gotoh hardware. The pickups are by Porter, a small team of four pros in Idaho USA. They're called an A-90, with the aim being to take the creamy fatness of a P-90 but add a little more JM-style clarity and sparkle. They sound amazing: shimmering detail, beautiful harmonics, heaps of attack and pick noise when you dig in, very percussive, thick through the low end... glorious. The clean sounds on offer are balanced, bright and warm, while the dirty tones are expressive and immediate. The simple 3-way switch and volume/tone electronics are easy to use, and with a buzz stop bar and quality tuners, it's a little easier to live with than a trad vintage style JM. It's hard to overstate the quality of the build and finish of this, it really does feel like a million bucks. The neck is slim and round, carved from top tier maple and rich dark rosewood and finish in super thin, slippery satin. The body is light and resonant and the finish looks incredible. You don't see many antigua guitars, and this is the coolest example of the genre I've ever come across. This is a remarkable guitar, it will surely make someone very happy indeed.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has minor dimples and a small chip on the end. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor rub wear on the back only. The back has a few dents and dimples in the elbow area, scuffs near the jack in the bottom corner, top horn and near the neck plate and some dimples in the middle of the body. The sides have minor dimples on the top horn, elbow area and near the jack. The front is pretty clean, just some minor marks around the tailpiece and jack and some play wear on the guard and horns.
Overall: very good condition (8/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 11/49 Moonshiners strings.
Fret life: 9/10, minor wear only
