(ARCHIVE) Soldano Astroverb 16 2x12" Snakeskin Combo Amp
- Description
- Guitarchives
Here's one you don't see everyday! Michael Soldano startd building amps in the early 80s, and within a few years his client list included Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Lou Reed, John Fogerty, Mark Knopfler and many more. The Astroverb is the Soldano take on the low-wattage tube amp genre, so this is a 20w combo in a vertical 2x12" cabinet. The cabinet is beautifully built and the iconic snakeskin finish is sure to look terrific on stage. The tone... oh boy, what a treat! This is a single channel affair, so with the pre-amp gain on low to medium settings you get a terrific, touch sensitive crunch with amazing note separation and clarity. As you crank the gain the mids thicken up; you're soon enjoying outrageously harmonically rich, saucy overdrive with a massive tight bottom end and superb complexity. It's hard to overstate just how good this sounds, it really is on another level.
