(SOLD) Fender Japan '62 Stratocaster ST62-70TX Ocean Turquoise Metallic 1996
Fender '62 Strat, ocean turquoise, crafted in Japan 1996. It's safe to say this looks pretty darn good. This finish was a non-catalog option in the mid-90s, so they only come up here and there as limited runs and special orders. But, that deep green paired with the dark ochre rosewood board, the golden maple headstock and the mint green guard... my oh my, what a looker. The neck on this is carved to the slim vintage C profile that wins so many hearts, it's super easy on the hands and features some attractive tightly grained maple on the back too. The USA pickups deliver a snarly, assertive take on the classic Strat-spank. The neck position is glassy and rich with a deep bottom end and eloquent attack, while the bridge pickup deals in creamy growl and snappy chime with a tasty complexity in the mids, and those in-between positions deliver a convincing piquant 'quack'. There's a few marks around the edges to keep this one in the honest-player category, and you'll understand when you get your hands on it: you won't wanna put it down either.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has some minor scuffs on the end and bottom edge and some dimples near the tuner posts. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples and rub wear on the back only. The back has widespread light scuffs as well as some small chips in the belly carve area, elbow area, back edge and bottom corner. The sides have a few small marks: dents on the top horn, chips and scuffs in the elbow area, scuffs and dimples along the back edge, some chips and marks near the jack, a decent chip around from the switch area and a few dimples on the bottom horn. The front has a chip near the input jack and some minor chips in the elbow area, as well as widespread light scuffs and some standard play wear on the guard and horns. Overall: good condition (7/10).
Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, action is low, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. The frets have some minor wear but they're pretty even with no major buzz issues, 7/10 for fret life left. Setup with fresh 10/46 Mooonshiners strings.
