Guyatone LG-85T, red finish, made in Japan 1967-8. These old Guyatones are so cool. This model dates to the late 60s and is styled approximately after the Fender Mustang. It's short scale with a funky little trem and a nice lightweight body. The headstock is comically large, it's almost as big as the body and features the rad 'G' badge. The frets are in good shape and the truss rod works, and although the neck is on the chunky side it's still pretty easy and heaps of fun to play. The red finish is in the dakota red ballpark, so it's dark and saucy with a certain 60s automotive aesthetic to it. The highlight is the gold foil pickups: heck, they sound superb. They're thick and juicy like a P-90, but with a sweet openness and sparkle through the attack and top end that makes them a little glassier and clearer than a regular soapbar. There's a heap of fun to be had here, it's a rad little slice of sixties surf swagger.

Model: Guyatone LG-85T
Made: Japan, 1967-8 (no serial on this one)

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. Headstock has a bunch of minor marks all over, no major marks though. Note some of the tuners are pretty bent but they all work okay. The neck has minor dimples on the back and plenty of rub wear, it's smooth in the hands though. The back has widespread scuffs and dimples, no major marks though. The sides have dimples around the whole body, no major marks. The front is similar, heaps of dimples and scuffs but no major marks. Overall: good condition (7/10).

Playing condition notes: Neck is straight (no issues there!), action is low, intonation is good, truss rod works. Note that the pickup switches are a little temperamental, but working without major drama. Frets have some minor wear, plenty of height in them; 7/10 for life left. Wearing fresh 11/49s.
