The DD-2 was first digital delay in a stompbox, ever. Back in the early 80s, Roland used to offer a flagship studio rack sized delay unit called a SDE-3000, and with a bit of ingenuity they managed to cram the large IC chip from that unit into a compact pedal. These early 'large chip' digital delays have a sweet, natural sound, whereas some later digital delays have been criticised for being a bit sterile. This sounds magnificent and is surely a worthy addition for both it's delicious tone and historical significance.
