We've had a bunch of Bacchus basses through the store, and they're always fantastic instruments. I've never before seen a Stingray-style model from them, so when I saw this pop up, I had to grab it. It's a non-catalog model: Bacchus did a more direct Stingray-style model in the late 90s under their Brian brand, as well as a model with block inlays, an oil finish and a Warwick-style bridge called a Groove Line for a few years, but this exact recipe seems to have been a transitional model or an order-made limited run. It takes some classic MM elements: ash body, high mass bridge, comfy medium shaped neck and a big fat humbucker. It's also got some Bacchus-touches: four-in-line headstock, passive electronics and amazingly well executed wood and finish work. It's very responsive and snappy in the hands, with a fast attack and plenty of unplugged sustain and volume. The pickup doles out a thick, punchy growl, bounding in midrange oomph, snarly highs and a fast, fat bass. You get a volume control, and then a treble cut and bass cut tone controls; unusual, but it all works well, and it saves remembering to change batteries. The back has minor scuffs around the whole body , dimples along the back edge and elbow area and some surface scratches in the middle of the body. The sides have minor dimples on the top horn and elbow area and some scuffs near the jack and bottom horn.
