Drumdots are designed to control the ring of your drums without sacrificing the tone. They're engineered to keep the 'strike tone' of your drums which is the range of frequencies present when the stick first contacts the head, while eliminating the 'over-ring', the time the drum rings out after the initial hit. Drumdots really do keep the natural tone of your kit alive while shortening the sustain. They're made from a specially developed polymer called VTem which means they'll never lose their shape, never melt on stage or in the packet, and leave no residue and are not 'sticky'. They're reusable, easy to clean, and will easily stick to any drum or cymbal, top or bottom. Use more dots or place them closer to the middle of a drum for shorter sustain, or use a single dot near the hoop for a moderate effect. These are the best product on the market for controlling the over-ring of your drums in both stage and studio settings.
These 'Mini' version dots are half the size of the 'Original' dots. They're especially good on cymbals; one or two Mini Dots will take the edge off the sustain and harshness of cymbals; perfect for smaller rooms. They also allow for more precision in dampening on drums, you can tweak the level more easily by using different numbers of dots.
There's a lot of useful info, including usage tips and some detailed technical data on the Drumdots FAQ from their website. There's a great video demo by the guys at 180Drums that'll give you a detailed idea of what these can do. Drumdots won 'Best in show' in the Add-ons & Accessories catergory at Summer NAMM 2017.
