Fender '62 J, sunburst, made in Japan 1993/4. This charming fellow oozes sophistication. The '93/4 catalog had a bunch of different J models, this is one of the fancier ones so you get a set of sweet USA JB-Vintage single coils and a spiral-saddle bridge, which lend the bass a bit more definition and cut than a standard MIJ model. The neck is perfectly slim and nicely played-in, it's got a really great feel to it; plus the lacquer has yellowed to a delicious golden hue. The classic burst finish has a miles on the clock, it's got a sweet mellow look and pops nicely against the aftermarket cream guard. This is the kind of bass that'll happily manage whatever you throw at it, from black-tie wedding gigs to sweaty basement shows and always look right at home. Proper MIJ-goodness!

Cosmetic condition notes: moderate finish wear. There's some chips around the side edges, most notably near the input jack and the shoulder carve area; they're not really noticeable from front-on but they're reasonable dings. Aside from that, just a few dimples here and there, some clouding on the chrome and a bt of play-scratching. Overall: good condition (7/10).
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good. Frets have just been professionally dressed, so they're looking great; 9/10 for life left. All electrics tested and working properly. Set up with fresh 45/105s. Sleek!
