Back in 1954, Leo Fender designed and launched the first ever solid body electric bass, the Precision Bass. It took a form like this initially: slab body, two-saddle bridge, small headstock and the half-body guard. All those details would change with the next version in 1957, and the 54-6 models would go on to be colloquially called the 'Telecaster Bass'. Fender has done a couple of versions out of Japan over the years, and this is the most recent and most affordable take. It's a great sound: heaps of midrange kick and growl, round musical lows and a smooth top end. This one is pretty lightweight and balanced, and feels very agreeable in the hands.
