The first ever solid bodu electric bass guitar was Leo Fender's Precision Bass, debuting in 1954. It became known later as the Telecaster Bass, owing to it's square body shape and T-style pickup and headstock. The P took a different form shortly thereafter, and the Telecaster Bass was reborn in 1968 with humbucker in the neck and a Thinline-style pickguard. This model references the 60s version, but with an added bridge pickupm, as was a common mod way back when. The Modern Player series was made in China, but the standards were very high, and they're generally executed and finished better than the Mex-made models of the same era. This feels good: reasonable weight, well balanced, comfy neck, naturally resonant. The tone is all doom: thick, growly, raunchy punch with abundant midrange girth. The two pickups are physically very far apart, so the contrast in tone is significant, but they complement each other effectively.
