It's got a tightly grained, high grade Sitka Spruce top, but the real showstopper is the gorgeous solid Ovangkol back and sides: my oh my, that's something to look at. Ovangkol is an African species in the Rosewood family, so it delivers plenty of low end oomph, but adds a certain fast percussive punch and airy dryness to the tone that differs from the Indian stuff. This is a very clear sounding guitar: sparkling crisp tops, breathy mids, piano-like lows... very classy, and great for bothy fingerstyle and strummed parts. The neck has that signature Taylor electric-like feel too, it's a breeze in the hands.
