The Studio Lord series is a firm shop favourte, they really are fantastic guitars. They were made from 1976-83, so this one is pretty late in the piece. That means you get the cool 'open book' headstock, which is a nice touch. The dark rosewood fretboard, faded binding, subtle plain maple top and mellowed cherry burst finish make for a super cool aesthetic; it has the air of a classy old rocker. The neck is slim and comfy and in great order despite the years, and at a 3,8kg, this is a nice lightweight take on the genre. The pickups split to a single coil sound via the push\/push tone controls, which is cool. The sound on offer is clear and expansive: bell-like and full on the neck pickup, snarly and growling with a smooth creamy kick on the bridge. The back has dimples around the control cavity, back edge and elbow area and some surface scratches in the middle of the body. The sides have minor scuffs around the whole body. The front has scuffs along the back edge, a dent near the bridge pickup and some play wear on the horns.
