Gibson CJ-165 Acoustic/Electric 2008
Gibson CJ-165, natural gloss, made in USA 2008. This is a gorgeous little thing. The CJ-165 takes the classic J-200 Jumbo body, and shrinks it down to fun size for easy handling and comfy play. This model only existed from 2006-8, so they're not super easy to find these days. The J-200 touches are classy: solid flame maple back and sides, split parallelogram inlays, plenty of binding, AAA spruce top... all nice stuff. The smaller body makes this a super comfy couch guitar, and also warms up the tone a little. The sound is clear and expansive on the top end, owing to the exemplary articulation of the maple body, with a friendly gooey midrange that's perfect for fingerstyle playing and a round, musical bass. The simple pickup translates the sound pretty accurately too, which is a handy bonus. This is a really enjoyable guitar and will surely be a most welcome addition to the household.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has scuffs on the end and front around the posts and logos, as well as dimples on the back near the Made in USA stamp. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor rub wear on the back only. The back has very minor dimples on the shoulders and some light scuffs along the back edge. The sides have minor dimples on the top shoulder and some minor scuffs in the elbow area, near the jack and on the bottom shoulder. The front has minor dimples on the top shoulder, two very small dents near the back edge, rub wear in the elbow area and play wear on the guard and shoulders.
Overall: excellent condition (9/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good. Setup with 12/54 Moonshiners strings.
