(SOLD) Applause by Ovation AA14 Roundback Acoustic 1970s
Applause AA14 roundback acoustic, made in USA 1970s, natural finish. Applause was a sub-brand owned by Ovation, they were a lower priced version of the famed 'roundback' acoustics that made so much headway in the 70s and 80s. The tone has that Ovation thing: bright, super articulate and clear, sparkly treble and a tight bass. It's a departure from a Gibson or Martin style tone, but it definitely has a certain appeal. The headstock gives away the age; the cartoon cloud shape was unique to the early Applause models that were still made in USA. If you're curious about the Ovation thing but aren't inclined to blow serious cash to see if you like it, here's a cool little 'dip your toe' option. Plus, it's cute right?

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. Headstock has some minor marks on the end and a light scuff on the back. Neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples on the back only. The back has no major marks, just some light scuffs; it's a hard-wearing finish. The front is pretty clean, just some very light surface scratches around the body. Overall: very good condition (8/10).
Playing condition notes: action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Frets look nice and even and in pretty good shape, 7/10 for fret life left. Wearing fresh 12/54 Moonshiners strings.
