Yamaha Session II 512P, gloss red finish, made in Japan around 1987. The Session series guitars were a pretty classic take on the Superstrat genre, hailing from the mid-80s. You get a Strat-style body with a slim shreddable neck, a fairly flat 15" radius board, an easy-access neck joint, a two point vibrato bridge and a handy HSS pickup setup. All that makes for easy play: the neck is quick and comfy, offering slick and smooth movement all the way up, with the lightweight body offering plenty of resonance and the sturdy hardware keeping everything steady and stable. The tone on offer is awesome: approximately Strat flavoured, but with more output and a gorgeous clear, sparkling top end. This has oodles of clarity with makes for great distorted tones, as the notes still come out in high definition even with a generous dose of djüzzgh. The black-on-red look has a certain understated 80s gaudiness to it too, it looks very cool. This is so much guitar for the cash it's silly.
