Yamaha SR500 Super RnRoller, black, made in Japan 1979. These were Yamaha's late seventies take on the then-current 70s Strat, so it's got the cool big headstock, ash body and trad SSS pickup setup. This one gained a black guard somewhere along the line, which ties in very nicely with the dark lux rosewood board. Our tech did soime good work on this one: tidied up the cavity , replaced the jack and switch and installed a crisp new bone nut, so it's in very good functional order. The neck is very agreeable in the hands: round and moderately slim, straight and stable, and worn to a slick satin feel with play. The tone on deck is bright, open and breathy, with a responsive snarl if you dig in hard or a smooth soulful warble under a soft touch. These are really great instruments, it will scare stuff at 2-3 times the dollar. All black all the time.
