Avedis Zildjian K Custom Hybrid 13.25" Hi-Hats (Preowned)

Here's a pretty unique set of preloved Zildjian hi-hats. This set of K Custom Hybrid hats features a traditional finish on the outer surface and a brilliant finish towards the bell on both top and bottom of both hats. The bottom hat is noticeably thicker/heavier than the top which lends towards a mix of sensitivity and definition. The 13.25 inch diameter also lends towards this tight and snappy style. The wave hammering on the bottom cymbal provides additional aggression. They're a bit darker than we expected and leave complexity behind in favour of a stronger fundamental and simpler tone. As a result, these are less expressive than a lot of the Turkish stuff we usually stock, however, they are well behaved and sensible for busier styles of music. Think funk, soul, hip-hop. You could potentially even make a case for jazz if you're that way inclined... we hope not though.

Top hat: 885g
Bottom hat: 1230g
Condition notes: acetone used on the top hat to mostly remove logo by previous owner, resulting in a dulled traditional finish and a matted brilliant finish with a yellowed hue; there is tape residue on a few areas on the outside of the cymbals; structurally they are in great condition, heaps of play left; overall: good condition

Avedis Zildjian say:

Developed with one of Japan's top drummers, Akira Jimbo, the Zildjian K Custom Hybrid Hi-Hat Bottom features an innovative brilliant/traditional surface for a musical "darkness with brilliance" combination. The inner unlathed section helps control the wash and sustain, making it ideal for recording and live situations.

The innovative "hybrid hammering" design on the bottom cymbal results in increased surface area contact between the cymbals and a warmer chick and wash than normal Mastersound hammering. Akira specified the 13-1/4" size to combine the power of a 14" size and the control of a 13".

The 14" HiHats capture the same sound as the existing 13" models but with extra volume and more breadth of sound.
