Dr Z Route 66 Guitar Amp Head
Truly magnificent. The Route 66 is built around a set of KT66 valves, similar to what you might find in a Marshall JTM45. The amp is an original circuit though, it's not just another Plexi-style job. It presents very simply: one input, one channel, three knobs. The 32w is plenty: it's extremely loud if you turn it up, and in such circumstances, you'll surely be having a good time. It's a brilliant clean amp, offering some of the tightest, fastest, fattest bass you will ever hear. The harmonic depth and sparkle through the mids and highs is awesome too, it adds life and nuance to every note and chord. It gets dirtier as it gets louder, but it's very enjoyable both loud and dirty or at a more reasonably volume and pretty clean. The EQ is very powerful too, it changes the way the amp responds pretty significantly as you play with different settings. As a pedal platform: wow. These are no longer available new, so if you're after one, here's your shot. Z= ze best.
