Fender Japan '57 Precision Bass PB57-75 Sunburst 1993
Fender '57 Precision, made in Japan 1993-4, two-tone sunburst. There was no less than eight models of P Bass in the 1993 catalog. This one references the 1957 model, which was the first to take this exact body shape and feature a split coil pickup. It's a tier above the most basic '57, so you get a spiral saddle bridge, USA pickup and an alder body, which is a very enjoyable combination. The neck is pretty wide, with a generous D shape carved from some gorgeous golden maple. The body rings enthusiastically with each note, helped along by being 3.7kg and therefore a very lightweight example. The maple board adds a little bit of high end snarl and focus to the tone, rounding out the plump low end and growly midrange with a nice little top-end snap. The aged plastics and smoky chrome hardware add a bit of vintage chic to the burst finish, it has a certain old-world charm about it. This is a perfect working player's P, it will definitely deliver the goods night after night.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has scuffs and dents on the end and bottom edge, dimples on the front near the G tuner and some light scuffs on the back. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples on the back only. The back has scuffs on the horns and elbow area, dimples on the bottom horn, back edge and elbow area, some surface scratches in the middle of the body and some minor hazing and rub wear around the whole body. The sides have dimples on the top horn and elbow area, a dent and some dimples near the knobs and some scuffs on the bottom horn, as well as a minor crack in the clear coat on the treble side of the heel. The front has dimples on the top horn, elbow area and near the jack, dents up from the bridge and play wear on the guard and horns.
Overall: very good condition (8/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 45/105 Moonshiners strings.
Fret life: 8/10, minor wear only
