Fender Japan '62 Jazz Bass JB62-75US Ocean Turquoise Metallic 2000
Fender '62 Jazz Bass, ocean turquoise, crafted in Japan 2000. The Jazz Bass launched in 1962, borrowing some slick curves from the offset shape of Fender's recently released Jazzmaster and Jaguar guitars. This is a 60s style model, so you get the gold logo, slab rosewood fretboard, tort guard and vintage spiral bridge. The colour looks glorious: I reckon ocean turquoise is one of Fender's finest, and it was a non-catalog option at the time this was made, so this would have been made as a limited run. Paired with the tort guard, chrome hardware and dark rich rosewood, this looks super classy. There was a couple of versions of the '62 J at the time, and this was the upmarket one, so you get an alder body and the USA-made pickups. That makes for a snappy, clear, immediate tone, with a nice fast punchy low end. growly mids and a pleasing articulate snappiness on top. The neck is slim and comfy too, it's very easy to play. You may as well bass in style, right?
