Fender Japan '62 Precision Bass PB62-53 Black 1998
Fender '62 Precision, black, crafted in Japan 1997-00. Simple, but so good, This delicious thumper references the 1962 version of the in dominatable P bass: spaghetti logo, rosewood slab fretboard, 3-ply guard, simple electronics. It's a pretty lightweight example at a whisker under 3.9kg, which is super handy if you're playing long sets or just generally prefer to avoid suffering. There was a couple of electrical niggles on arrival, so our friendly house tech has upgraded all the bits: cloth wire, CTS dish back pots, Mallory cap, Switchcraft jack... ready for years of hard work. It sounds great now: fat and round down low with a very strong fundamental note, complemented by a growly midrange kick and an understated smooth treble. The original white guard was switched out for a creamier number, which looks awesome. P=phun.
