Gibson SG Standard, cherry, made in USA 2001. Remember 2001? Jimmy Eat World released Bleed American and Incubus released Morning View... unfortunately we also got Tool, Creed and Nickelback, but hey... good with the bad, right? Well, over at Gibson, they were making good guitars, including this good guitar. The SG Standard is a classic: lightweight, super responsive in the hands, pointy as your parents' remarks about your music career... add in the classic cherry gloss nitro finish, and you're ready to Live Hardcore. It's a great cherry: a little lighter and brighter than others we've had through, played in nicely around the edges; it has a certain vibrance and swagger to it. Plug it in, and it's ready to raise some pulses: snappy and snarly on the bridge pickup, with a wide midrange and plenty of raspy highs, or dark and swampy on the neck pickup with a little glint of shimmer on the top end. This is a really fun guitar. Just remember, if you're learning songs from 2001, don't choose Creed.
