(SOLD) TAMA Japan Artstar II 14x6.5 Birdseye Maple Snare Drum in Transparent Charcoal
Here's a cheeky TAMA Artstar II in all its glory direct from last century–and it sounds as good as ever! This series a good example of the high-end made in Japan offerings that gave TAMA their reputation. The birdseye maple shell looks classy with the transparent charcoal finish and the sturdy hardware frames it nicely. The beefy die cast hoop adds a little bit of extra weight but affords some tuning stability and focus to the snare side. Hectic 42 strand wires and a Pearl SuperHoop replacement on the batter just make this drum sound thick and full. You get heaps of shell action and a big open tone that will sound good in virtually any context. It's a yes from us!

Additional Notes: The throw is smooth and doesn't get stuck. The snare wires and heads are in good condition. There is little visible damage on the hardware and hoops. The batter-side hoop has been replaced with a Pearl triple-flange SuperHoop. The shell and finish are overall in very good condition with very few minor scratches and marks. The batter head is worn with tape residue near the logo. No dimples, however, and it holds tune, still a little life left. Overall: very good condition (7/10)
