Here we have a set of UFIP Class Series 14" Hi-Hats, and they're pretty cool. These are definitely geared towards funk/old school rock players with the bright vintage tone they carry. UFIP craft their cymbals by hand in Italy, embracing the little variances between cymbals as a natural positive of the methods. Sure, no set you buy will ever sound exactly the same as others, but that can definitely be considered as a cool thing. Unique cymbals make for a unique sound for the player. Subtitles in your playing complemented by subtleties in your gear–a match made in Heaven!

So we gave this pair a play... they're unapologetically bright and loud, but so unabashed in how they go about it that you have to lean into the vibe. They have better articulation than a 7-figure lawyer and a strong chimey sustain that hangs around longer than your brother-in-law that's just staying with you until he "gets back on his feet." They really put in you in that '70s drummer' mindset, where every little note you play on the hats becomes a smooth but pronounced feature of the groove. We even found ourselves playing little open-closed stuff on the bell, and we liked it. Less is more with these hats and they really favour sensible playing. The bottom hat is vented too, meaning you get really defined left foot motions. Having gear that influences the way you play can be a powerful tool and if you want hi-hats that coerce you into playing Rush covers all day, these will do it.

Weights:
Top - 1295g
Bottom - 1495g

Condition notes: no cracks or keyholing; both hats have a few minor dings along the edge with one noticeable flea bite on the bottom hi-hat; the top hi-hat logo is not visible; overall: good condition (7/10)

UFIP says:
"CLASS is UFIP!
This series is the result of more than 80 years of cymbals manufacturing, making Class the most complete and versatile series available. The Class offer more in every respect: more volume, more lively tone, more warmth, more dynamics and more fullness. They cut through in every musical surrounding, from classical music to Jazz, to Rock or Pop.
No other cymbal offers such a broad sound spectrum and so much dynamic potential. The SCS (Sound Control System) allows us to classify every cymbal based on its final weight, using two categories, Medium and Low, giving the drummer a complete coverage of pitches."
