Aria JB600 bass, royal blue, made in Japan around 1975. The Aria Pro II brand was launched in 1975; this one seems to pre-date most of the catalog models in terms of logos and specs, so it must be a very early example indeed. It's been lovingly refinished at some point to it's current blue hue; the job was done brilliantly and long enough enough ago that and you can see the grain of the sen ash starting to peep through as it seeps into the wood. The combo of a bound board, block inlays, tort guard and the blue finish looks dang cool. Unlike many ash body basses, this one is pretty light, which is easy on the shoulder but also adds an immediacy to the attack and thickness to the bottom end. The neck is a slightly chunkier carve, so if you're used to a standard P bass this will feel pretty familiar. This is a mammoth amount of bass for a minuscule dollar, what a win!

Model: Aria Pro II JB-600
Made: Japan, 1975 approx (no serial)

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. Headstock has a couple of marks on the end and bottom edge. Neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor marks on the back only. The back has a few surface scratches and scuffs around place, no major marks. The sides have a few dimples around the whole body, no major marks though. The front us also pretty tidy, just a few dimples around the bridge and elbow area and some play wear on the guard and top horn. Overall: very good condition (8/10).

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Frets have some normal wear, but they're in good shape; 7/10 for fret life left. Set up with fresh 45/105 strings.

This listing is an archived entry. We love to look back and remember fondly what characters we've had through the store, so we keep them around for reference.
