Aria Pro II JG-2H, made in Japan 1994 according to our best estimates. If 'The Twins', the dreadlocked-white-trenchcoated-henchmen from The Matrix Reloaded bought a guitar, this would surely be it. This little partystarter has plenty of swagger: pairing the ever-awesome offset body shape with a clear Lucite body is just too cool. All the pickup springs and wiring being on show has a certain robotic charm; it's definitely got a strong aesthetic and will look amazing on stage. It's no lightweight at 5.2kg, a similar weight to the heavier Les Pauls or basses going around, but it's manageable. These were made only briefly, sometimes branded under the 'Legend' sub-brand, sometimes with a matching acrylic headstock; there's very little info around on the model but fortunately this one came with the warranty docs, offering at least a model and serial number. The tone is spanky, sparkly and scooped; there's a heap of natural bass and treble and plenty of output. It's definitely more at home delivering nasty punk tracks than nuanced jazz leads, but hey, it does what it does with conviction and confidence. The neck is a handy round, slim profile with a shred-friendly 12" radius; it's simple and effective and nicely made. If you can find another example of this model for sale I'll be surprised, so don't miss out if you're in love.
