Bacchus BJM-Standard, pale pink, made in Japan 2019. This is a gorgeous guitar in every way. Bacchus came out in the 90s and quickly gained a reputation for outstanding quality. Founding luthier Sensei Momose trained the small crew of factory workers and was famously picky with wood: only the absolute best would do. This guitar is truly hand made: no CNC machines are used to cut the bodies and they even make their own pickups in house. All that adds up wonderfully in the hands: this is built to a standard many USA guitars can only dream of. The neck is a moderately slim C shape and the Richlite board feels and looks basically just like ebony... combined with the lightweight ash body, this feels very alive. The roller bridge and buzz stop bar come standard on this model, so that resolves a lot of the issues traditionally associated with the offset style tremolo bridges. It's reassuring and sturdy in the hands and will have you feeling it right away. The ash body and Hot Rod pancake single coils offer a tasty tonal combo: slightly fuller through the low end and midrange than a regular Fender MIJ Jm, while maintaining that signature JM crystal clarity and defined attack. The pink finish is a delight too, it pops nicely against the mint guard and dark board. Those who know these guitars tend to love them dearly, so if you're ready to step off the big-brand train, this will surely reward you handsomely.
