Barclay 5004 Jag style with Lucite body, made in Japan mid 1990s, transparent blue. Sure, you could buy a regular sunburst Jag, but... fortune favours the bold, right? These popped up in the mids 90s, it's likely they were made under the same roof as Aria Pro II at the time as the Aria branded JG-2H is a very similar beast. It's a Lucite body, also called plexiglass or acrylic, styled after a Jag or Jazzmaster. Some of these had a standard maple headstock, but this one has the super cool matching headstock. At 4.7kg it's no lightweight, but it's a fair bit lighter than the last one of these we had, so that's a mercy. The neck is a full 25.5" scale with the shreddable combo of tall frets and a 12" radius on a comfy, slim round profile. The tone is great for punk and aggressive rock stuff: huge natural bass and plenty of sparkle through the treble, scooped but clear mids and heaps of attack. There's no denying it: this looks seriously cool! These really don't come around often so nab yourself a weird piece of 90s nasty and smash out some rowdy tunes.

Cosmetic condition notes: mild finish wear. The headstock has scuffs on the end and some clouding on the back and front. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples on the back only. The back has widespread light scuffs around the body, as well as some scratches on top horn, elbow area and around the back edge. The sides have minor dimples near the jack and elbow area. The front has some scuffs behind the bridge and on the elbow area, as well as some clouding around the body and some standard play wear on the guard and horns. Overall: very good condition (7.5/10)

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly, truss rod also works. The frets have minor wear only, 8/10 for fret life left. Wearing fresh 11/49 Moonshiners Strings.

This listing is an archived entry. We love to look back and remember fondly what characters we've had through the store, so we keep them around for reference.
