(ARCHIVE) Barclay 5004 Lucite Jag-Style Blue 1995
- Description
- Guitarchives
Barclay 5004 offset, made in Japan around 1995, clear blue. What a time to be alive. These popped up with a couple of different brand names, including Fernandes and Aria Pro II, and were made briefly in the mid 1990s. You might've guessed: it's heavy, at a whisker under 5kg. But you get some tone for your trouble: big thick lows, punchy immediate mids with a nice strength and balance, snappy highs... it sounds massive. The neck is comfy and quick and the hardware is all very sensible and sturdy, so this holds tune nicely and feels great to play. The clear blue with all the guts on show and the wild matching headstock is surely a compelling look: it's a 90s pool party in a guitar. Someone get me a West Coast Cooler or a Passion Pop pronto, all these Matchbox 20 songs aren't gonna play themselves!
