Brian by Bacchus National Style, teal green, made in Korea around 1998. Bacchus guitars came out in the 1990s; they were made in Japan to a brilliant standard by a very small team and quickly came to enjoy widespread acclaim in Japan. The 'Brian' brand was their first experiment with OS manufacturing (Bacchus now make guitars in Japan, China and Phillipines) in the late 90s. We're a bit fond of Brian stuff around here, so we've have had a few Strat and Jazz Bass style examples through, but... this is something totally new and different. It's based off the National Val Pro model, with similar a setup to the Eastwood Airline Map model currently available. But, they made this one from tasty sen ash and built it to a brilliant standard; it feels awesome in the hands. It's not too heavy and rings truly in the hands, the neck is an agreeable slim C shape; it feels great. Plugged in, oh boy, this is a riff machine. Heaps of attack and presence, a grindy crunchy midrange and loads of thump; it cleans up nicely but is definitely happiest smattered with a juicy helping of gain. Don't count on seeing another one anytime soon, this Brian is a very naughty boy!
