Burny RLC-55P LP Custom style, gloss black, made in Taiwan 2009. Slick, right? For several decades, Burny has offered Gibson-style models built to a great standard, as part of the Fernandes family of instrument brands. This one is a more recent example, although the model is long discontinued now. It's inspired by the 50s style LP Customs, dressed in slick black with a pair of P90-style soapbar pickups. The neck is a slim 60s type shape and the body is reasonably lightweight; it feels tidy resonant in the hands. The pickups are great: the neck is dark and gooey with a lovely percussive plonk, while the bridge is open and bright with plenty of definition and growl. We don't get many Custom style LPS through with soapbars, so if that's been on your wishlist for a while, don't let your dreams sail past nonchalantly.
