Burny Swanker Spider PLC-70, pale pink, made 2010. These Swanky Spider models are rad, my understanding is that they popped up briefly in the late 00s as a signature series for an all girl Japanese supergroup that never quite eventuated... don't quote me on that though! Here's what I do know: this rules. First up, the gloss shell pink finish is gorgeous. It's yellowed somewhat over the last decade, which adds a but of depth and warmth to the aesthetic; it really pops beautifully against the streaky rosewood board and cream plastics. The wacky inlays and skull on the headstock are perfect little kitsch touches... this is terribly terrific. The F-holes and Bigsby tail add a certain flair to the look and a heap of airiness and snap to the tone. There's a sweet, talkative treble paired with a mile-wide midrange with a plump, juicy low end... it's got a lot of tone under the hood and really punches harder than expected. The neck is a tasty slim 60s profile and the body is naturally light and resonant, so this feels really friendly in the hands. It's hard to find these and heck, it just radiates swagger, so don't think too hard about it!
