Burny Swanker Spider PSG-55, pale pink, made 2010. These Swanky Spider models are rad, my understanding is that they popped up briefly in the late 00s as a signature series for an all girl Japanese supergroup that never quite eventuated... details are a little foggy. This is a take on the classic '61 style Gibson SG. There's some delightfully kitsch details: the skull on the headstock, star inlays at the twelfth fret and skull knobs all add a certain cheesy swagger. The finish is awesome: it's a sweet gloss shell pink style hue, which is sure to look supremely dope on stage. The neck is a moderate profile: not skinny, but not a tree-trunk; it's easy to get along with and well balanced against the body so as not to 'dive' when strapped up. The tone is a growly, dark and immediate take on the classic SG bark: beefy mids and a fat, juicy low end with a tasty subtle treble. It's easy to fall in love with this one, it has so much attitude. Black Sabbath meets Barbie Dreamhouse.

Cosmetic condition notes: mild finish wear. Headstock has some minor scuffs on the back. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor rub wear only. There's some minor cracks on each side of the nut in the finish only, we've had a luthier check it over and the neck joint itself isn't compromised. The back has some scuffs around the whole body, especially near the neck joint and on the back edge, as well as a chip near the electronics cover. The sides have minor marks near the jack and on the bottom horn. The front has a little chip in the elbow area, a couple of scuffs behind the tailpiece and on the back edge and some play wear on the guard and horns. Overall: very good condition (8/10)

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, both truss rods work. The frets have minor wear, they're in good shape, 8/10 for fret life left. Electronics all tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 45/105 Moonshiners strings.

This listing is an archived entry. We love to look back and remember fondly what characters we've had through the store, so we keep them around for reference.
