Danelectro 56 U2, made in China 2007, creamy yellow white. Dan guitars are heaps of fun, those experienced in their majesty tend to fall hard for their many charms. The model you see around a lot is the Double Cut '59, but these single cut '56 U2 models pop up far less often. It looks awesome: the creamy hue is a dream, the dark rosewood board looks super classy and the art deco styling has a lot of charm. It's lightweight and super easy to play: the neck is slim and slick and the body is super resonant. The lipstick pickups deliver a Tele-ish sparkly spank, but the masonite semi-hollow construction adds a heap of low-end thump and shortens the sustain... it's a strong option for surf, indie and punk stuff especially. There's a lot of fun to be had here, and it really does look awesome. What an overachiever!
