Duesenberg Starplayer TV, orange, made in Germany 2006. When we manage to score these, they never seem to last long! The Starplayer TV is Duesenberg's flagship and most recognisable model, and there's a whole lot of reasons to fall in love. This one is wearing a sweet Gretsch-esque trans-orange finish on the top, you can see the grain in the spruce peeking through. The gold sparkle guard adds a touch of glam; it mixes equal parts beauty and attitude. The neck is moderately slim and comfortably round, it's intuitive and friendly, and paired with the light body, the guitar is effortlessly playable. The build and finish quality is absolutely top-notch; if you're used to guitars like USA PRS or Custom Shop Fender, this easily fits into that league in terms of attention to detail and feel. The real magic is in the tone: this really does sound amazing. The neck P90 is thick, creamy, full and warm; it's got the perfect mix of brightness and fullness. The middle position doesn't integrate the full tone of the bridge humbucker; you get the Strat-esque spank of two single coils. The bridge HB is a delight: plenty of cut and growl, but a perfectly balanced smooth midrange that's never 'harsh'. This is a stupendous guitar, it's extremely easy to fall in love!
