Epiphone SG G400, cherry red, made in China 2010. The G400 is the well-appointed version of the SG from Epi, so it's got a proper set neck, a sturdy bridge and Grover tuners from factory. This one has had the pickups upgarded to a handy Gibson set, which translates nicely when you plug it in. There's heaps of classic SG growl and punch, but there's a certain added clarity and snap through the top end that you don't get with the stock Epi pickups. The neck tapers quite a lot as you move up towards the body, so that makes it friendly for both cowboy chords and fiddly lead stuff up the neck. It's also pretty nicely balanced without, so it doesn't dive too hard to the neck side. The cherry finish always works on this shape, and again, it looks great on this one too! Heaps of attitude for minor cash.
