Fender '57 Strat, made in Japan 1988, faded surf green. I'm proud to present the most divisive guitar in the store: the Shrek Strat. This left the factory wearing a fresh coat of surf green, and with several decades of aging on the clock, it's yellowed (browned?) extensively to this superb swampy hue. Being a genuine faded finish, there's a heap of depth and variation to the colour; you really can't fake this stuff and I reckon it looks so good. Although, plenty of (wrong) people hate it, so hey! Aside from the finish, this is a knockout Strat. The neck is a gorgeous, tightly grained piece of maple: aged to golden perfection, arrow straight and superb in the hands. The tone is a nuanced, rich take on the classic Strat-spank: eloquent, crystal treble with a wide, singing midrange and an assured, tight bass. I love it, and if you disagree, well... you're wrong.

Model: Fender Stratocaster '62 Reissue (ST57-55)
Made: Japan, Fujigen plant, neck date 1988 (serial E918407)
Finish: surf green (SGR), 3-ply white guard
Body:  basswood
Neck: maple one piece board, 7.25" radius, 25.5" scale, moderate D profile
Weight: 3.720kg
Mods: none
Pickups: Fender Japan ST-Single x3

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. Headstock has minor dimples on the bottom edge. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, no major marks. The body has extensive finish as pictured. The back has a couple of scuffs around the belly carve and cavity cover, no major marks. The sides have a few dimples near the jack, nothing nasty. The front has some dimples near the jack and along the back edge as well as some scuffs in the elbow area and play wear on the guard and horn. Overall: good condition (7/10).

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. The frets have minor wear only, 8/10 for fret life left. Wearing fresh 10/46 Moonshiners strings.

This listing is an archived entry. We love to look back and remember fondly what characters we've had through the store, so we keep them around for reference.
