Fender '67 Reissue Strat, yellow-white, made in Japan 1984-87. This is absolutely magical. We get a lot of Strats through around here, this one really sticks out as brilliant in every way. There was only ever one '67 style model in the Fender Japan catalogs of the 80s, they're far more scarce than the '57/62/72 models and you get the supremely cool big late-60s headstock. This one was also the second most expensive Strat available in the range of the day, only the one of the super deluxe Clapton-esque '54 model sold for more. All it's rarity aside, this really exceeds expectations. The finish (non-catalog by the way) looks excellent, it's yellowed considerably with age to an excellent cheddar-cheese hue with some awesome depth from play-wear. The neck is a slim-60s profile, but unlike the '62 model, you get a maple board... so there's some extra spank and chime at your disposal. The quality and feel of the neck is exceptional, there's a reason this era of Strats is so revered! The vintage-correct three way switch is a little strange, but each position offers so much in terms of tone, you quickly forget it's limitations. Thick, bright, articulate, warm, snappy and lush; this is a pleasure to hear. This is the first example of this model we've ever scored, so it might be a while before we land another one... if it's got you feeling things now, wait til it's in your hands: you'll high-five yourself every day for scoring such a brilliant thing.

Model: Fender '67 Reissue Stratocaster, (ST67-85)
Made: Japan, 1984-87 (serial E620228)
Finish: yellow-white (YWH) , 3-ply white guard
Body: alder
Neck: maple with maple board, dot inlays
Mods: none
Pickups: original Fender USA ST-Vintage
Case: none

Cosmetic condition notes: mild finish wear. There's not many major marks, just a few dimples here and there, mostly on the bottom edge near the jack. The plastics and chrome have some discolouration, but they all work fine. The finish has yellowed and has a bit of 'mottling' around the place, it's looks well-played-in and has a superb colour to it. Overall: very good condition (8/10)

Playing condition notes: Action is very low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. The frets have some normal wear, heaps of height still, 7/10 for life left. Really can't overstate how good this one is!

This listing is an archived entry. We love to look back and remember fondly what characters we've had through the store, so we keep them around for reference.
