Fender '67 Telecaster Special, sunburst, crafted in Japan 2006-8. Keef! This model was a non-catalog special run modelled off Keith Richards' famed 1967 modded Telecaster. It's not a signature model, but it's not a huge jump to suggest that's the inspiration. The recipe: take a '67 style Tele with an alder body, maple board and the bold CBS era decals, add a hefty brass six saddle bridge and a PAF-style humbucker in the neck position. It's a magical result: the tone is huge. The neck pickup is beefy, barky and snappy with heaps of warmth and body, which balanced against the bright, chiming 'twang' of the bridge pickup perfectly. The slim 60s style neck is an easy friend; it's quick in the hands and features some gorgeous maple grain. The burst finish looks great; it's a nice little twist on the classic aesthetic. Uncle Keith knows a Tele should be, you see.
