Fender Am Pro Jag, sunburst, made in USA 2016. The Jaguar has been bestowed with Fender's most generous dose of swagger since it's inception in 1962. Although not a strict vintage reissue, this is a well thought-out update on the classic and surely a worthy addition to the legacy. The perfectly weighted offset body remains the same as always, but the neck is carved to a modern C, blessed with a 9.5" radius and taller frets for easy bends and faster leads and the neck angle and tailpiece placement are moved slightly to eliminate the common vibrato buzz and bridge slippage issues. You also get a pair of updated pickups with a meatier wind and a Mustang style single-slot bridge. The switching is fun too: it's got a four way blade switch like a Jonny Marr model, and the circuit switch on the top horn is replaced with a phase switch for wacky tones. You can still dial a snappy, chiming lead tone akin to Jags past, but the addition of some thicker and more balanced options is welcome in my books. The classic three tone burst is classy, it's got a pleasing depth to it in the flesh. Why be an amateur Jaguar?
