Fender American Standard Strat, factory special run satin walnut stain finish, made in USA 2012. I must say, this is a beautiful guitar. It was made as a special run of fifty in the Corona USA factory for the Japan market. The finish is quite something: walnut stain, black filler, open pore satin finish over the top... heck. Pair that with a maple board and some gold hardware and dang... that's delicious. This era of Am Std was blessed with Custom Shop 'Fat 50s' pickups, which are probably my favourite factory Fender single coils. The low end is round and fat with a percussive punch, while the highs lean towards sweet instead of harsh and the mids are wide and balanced. The ash body is super light, which contributes to both a responsive feel and a tonal liveliness. The modern C neck, with a fairly flat 9.5" radius and tall-ish frets, will win plenty of friends; it's very intuitive and never makes you work too hard. I had to have this because it looked so good, but I was extremely tickled to discover it sounds and plays beautifully to match.
