Fender Am Standard Tele, made 2003, butterscotch blonde. Teles always look great in butterscotch, it's a basic fact of life. This one has a sweet semi-transparent coat of blonde, letting the cheeky grain of the ash body peep through beautifully. Paired with a lightly yellowed maple board and a pearl guard, this is surely a gorgeous creature. It looks good, but that's only the start. This has had a full re-wire with deluxe parts and is blessed with a great pair of Dimarzio pickups. The neck pickup is clear, glassy and articulate, balancing warmth and sparkle perfectly. The bridge pickup delivers the classic 'twang', but with the added roundness and midrange grit of a tasty vintage-voiced rails humbucker. The neck is an agreeable modern C shape that's worn from satin to a mild gloss with play; it feels superb in the hands. There's a lot to like here. This is one of those guitars where everything just 'makes sense' once it's in your hands... buttery goodness.
