Fender AVRI '62 Jag, modded, sunburst, made in USA 2003. Patron saint of flannelette shirts Kurt Cobain set the music world on fire in a big hurry in the early 90s. Many live shots of Nirvana see Sir Kurt toting a heavily modified sunburst 1963 Jaguar: Dimarzio humbuckers, modified switching, extra knob on the plate, tune-o-matic bridge. This here is a high end American Vintage '62 reissue Jaguar, so it's a classy starting point, modded to match those iconic specs. We've had a few takes on this idea through the shop before, from modified and custom ordered Japan models to the Mex-made Roadworn series production model, but this one is definitely the best of the lot in my humble opinion. It feels great in the hands: the slim vintage C neck is very intuitive, the hardware holds tune nicely, it resonates enthusiastically... great. The tone is mammoth: thick, meaty, smooth, but with heaps of attack and punch and a nice snappy treble. It's absolutely perfect into a dirty amp, it's an instant power-chord-party-machine, although it's hi-fi and responsive enough to cover a bunch of more complex ground if you are so inclined. This is a pretty unique piece, and it really does nail the brief, so if you're a longtime Nirvanoid or even just looking for a cool hot-rodded offset, this is a very fun option indeed. "Here we are now, in containers".
