Fender American Vintage '65 Jaguar, made in USA 2012, sunburst. The American Vintage series of guitars enjoyed wide critical and popular acclaim for several decades following it's launch in 1982. They're beautifully built instruments, built with care and worthy of the legacy of those world-beating instruments of the 50s and 60s. This one is a reissue of the 1965 Jag, so it gets the awesome fretboard binding and dots combo, different to both the '62 and '66 versions of the model. That bound board, paired with the bold early CBS era headstock, tort guard, nitro sunburst finish and perfect offset curves, makes for a truly luxurious aesthetic. Aside from looking superb, this plays brilliantly too. The neck pocket on this is angled from the factory, so that alleviates some of the standard break-angle related bridge buzz and slippage issues. It's a great neck: moderate and comfy in shape, gorgeous dark choc rosewood board, pretty concentrically grained maple on the back... yum. The body is resonant and well balanced; the whole thing has a certain integrity to it you can really feel in the hands. Tone-wise, this has that classic Jag-jangle in spades. There's heaps of snappy articulate sparkle on tap on the lead circuit, or you dial in a swampy, punchy darkness on the rhythm circuit. The original case, docs and accessories will make this a very handy little addition to your stash.
