Fender Blacktop Jaguar HH Black 2011
Fender Blacktop Jaguar, black, made in Mexico 2011. The Blacktop series hails to the early 2010s, and offered a bunch of classic Fender shapes with specs pushed in the modern rock direction. The Jag deviates quite a lot from the vintage style examples: stop tail piece, Adjust-o-Matic bridge, routed for two HB sized pickups and a modern neck with a 9.5" radius and tall frets. It's a good recipe. The neck is quick and smooth, the body sits nicely on a strap and the hardware is nice and reliable. The pickups have been switched for a set of wide-format P-90 style single coils, and they sound great. It's percussive, creamy and immediate, with a plump roundness on the neck pickup and a generous throaty growl on the bridge. If you're after a slick looking guitar that's ready to party at the drop of a hat, this one is pretty maximum.
