Fender '52 Tele, natural finish, made in Japan 1984-6. Here, friends, is a delightful 'A serial' example of the famed '52 Tele; a beautiful addition to anyone's quiver. Fender Japan launched in mid 1982 with the famed 'JV Serial' guitars, which were received as probably the best Fenders made since the 60s. This was made in the same factory, by the same staff, just a couple of years later. The quality of materials and craftsmanship on offer is superb: this is a terrific instrument, built with a lot of love and care. In the hands, the ash body is expressive and snappy and the neck an agreeable vintage style slim soft-V; the neck is especially luxurious under the fingers. Plugged in, you get heaps of trad Tele twang, but with a depth and complexity missing from many newer examples; it's simultaneously fatter, warmer and clearer, brighter... vintage MIJ witchcraft, I tell you. This will laugh at far pricier USA made guitars for feel and tone, plus it's cool to nab one this old in such good shape. Very, very good!
