Fender '52 Telcaster, vintage natural gloss finish, made in Japan 2010-11. It's a classic, right? In 1952 the Telecaster broke the mould for what a guitar could be, and the design was just so perfect that we all want the exact same thing seven decades later. This is a very clean example of a more recent reissue model, plus it's a high-end offering from it's day, so it's a superbly classy thing. The natural finish shows off some tight, streaky grain in the ash, paired with the classic black guard and golden maple board, it's proper beautiful in simplicity. The neck is a moderate C shape with a vintage radius, perfect for big rhythm parts and instantly familiar. Plugged in, there's heaps of tasty Tele twang on deck, but the overwound Texas Special single-coil pickups add a bit of natural compression and growl into the mix that'll get your amp cooking just right. There's a certain purity to the ear on offer here that's very satisfying. Simple and satisfying.
